The new large-scale sound reinforcement system was presented for the first time at ISE in Barcelona on February 4, 2025. Guided by the principle “Shaping the Future by Celebrating the Past”, it combines the fundamental features of the legendary Alpha concept with state-of-the-art high-performance components. Shortly after its market launch, worldwide order volumes rose sharply; the first components have been delivered since late summer. Those who seek advice from us early on have the opportunity to be among the first users in Germany. **Historical background:** As early as the mid-1990s, NEXO developed a point-source sound reinforcement system that quickly became an international standard for large sound reinforcement applications and, not without reason, bore the name “Alpha”. To this day, few classic PA systems achieve a comparable combination of resolution, transparency, dynamics and versatile application possibilities. The concept proved itself with a wide variety of musical styles – from Heavy Metal and classical music to electronic productions. Its lasting popularity is further supported by the fact that numerous important spare parts are still available and the presets are also provided in current system amplifiers. The characteristic genes of the original system have been transferred into an independent, modern design. The M210 Main system retains the basic configuration with two horn-loaded 10-inch drivers. Instead of a single 3-inch driver, four 3-inch drivers now operate in a specially developed horn cluster. Depending on the configuration, dispersion angles between 60 and 120 degrees are possible. The hybrid concept combines the properties of a classic stacking system with those of a line array. The horizontal dispersion can be adjusted using special flanges, while the vertical dispersion characteristic of the high-frequency units can be changed via integrated mechanics. The available options are vertically +20/-20 degrees and 0/-20 degrees – for example, for long-range applications or to reduce ceiling reflections in certain installations. Another Main system can be stacked upside down on another module and acoustically complement it precisely. As a result, the maximum sound pressure level increases from 148 dB Peak for a single enclosure in a corresponding cluster to up to 154 dB Peak thanks to the line-array behavior. The horn-loaded 15-inch B1-15 bass used previously in the classic system is replaced in the new concept by the horn-loaded double-18-inch B218 bass with 146 dB Peak. Its horizontally divided design is reminiscent in appearance of the basses of the NEXO SI-1000. Despite its dimensions, the weight remains comparatively low at 77 kg. For the sub-frequencies, the earlier system used the S2 bandpass. In the new concept, this task is handled by the already familiar, short horn-loaded L20 with 141 dB, which is also designed for infra components. The front design partly recalls two basses of the NEXO SI-2000 arranged opposite each other. Weighing only 59 kg, this module is also considerably lighter. Overall, this is a powerful 4-way large-scale sound reinforcement system. Each way has an impedance of 4 Ohm and is usually operated via a NEXO NXAMP4x4MK2. The modules are each approximately 60 cm high and 75.5 cm wide. L20 and B218 have the same depth of 90.5 cm, while the M210 requires slightly less space at around 63 cm. A typical stack consists of 1x M210, 1x B218 and 2x L20. Stacked on top of one another, this combination reaches a height of approximately 240 cm. An extensive selection of mechanical accessories with suitable mounting options is available for different applications. The crossover frequencies between the individual components are in a similar range to those of the original Alpha system. Within the Main system, the division between the 10-inch drivers and the high-frequency unit is particularly elaborate, covering a wide range from 500 to 1,500 Hertz.
