Description

The offered 18-inch chassis is in like-new condition as a measurement sample and is supplied with a full warranty. The version has a nominal impedance of 8 Ω. With 600 W AES power handling and up to 1200 W program power, the driver is suitable for high-performance low-frequency concepts. The sensitivity is 98 dB, and the usable frequency range extends from 30 to 2500 Hz. The drive system includes a 77-mm voice coil and a ferrite ring magnet. The outside diameter is 460 mm; 421 mm is required for installation. The installation depth is 201.5 mm, and the bolt circle measures 440 mm. This allows the chassis to be used both in newly planned enclosures and as a replacement in existing constructions. In PA systems, the loudspeaker can serve as a basis for tuned bass systems and multi-way concepts. It is also suitable for HiFi and DIY projects, for example for large-format loudspeakers, separate bass modules or individually developed enclosures. Enclosure volume, tuning frequency, crossover frequency, electrical drive and limiter should be designed to suit the respective operating conditions. CB Vb @ Fc stands for the required enclosure volume at the specified system resonance frequency Fc. The values F_upper and F_lower are calculated −3-dB cutoff frequencies of the mass-dominated sound-pressure bandpass in the small-signal free-field model. They were derived from Re, Le, BL and Mms according to the datasheet parameters. F_lower enables a rough assessment of the tonal orientation as a subwoofer, bass or low-midrange driver. F_upper describes the maximum possible upper cutoff frequency of a low-midrange driver with clean transient response and an Mms of up to approximately 100 g; possible partial vibrations of the diaphragm may further reduce this value. For subwoofers between 12" and 31.5" with an Mms below 200 g, crossover below F_upper/3 is recommended. With an Mms of more than 200 g, crossover below F_upper/4 should be used. The stated CB recommendation describes the expected most tonally suitable application in a closed enclosure. Qtc = 0.450 is recommended as the tuning. During operation, the voice coil heats up, which can cause Re and therefore also Qtc to increase. Under load, the system tuning consequently shifts toward the ideal tuning Qtc = 0.500. All values are calculated from verified datasheet parameters and should be understood as practical reference values; they are not manufacturer specifications. Areas of application The chassis was developed for large-volume low-frequency solutions in which the enclosure and electrical drive are specifically designed based on the technical parameters. In PA systems, it can be used in bass cabinets as well as in multi-way sound reinforcement systems, provided that volume, tuning, crossover and limiter are adjusted accordingly. Due to the frequency range up to 2500 Hz, it can also be used in multi-way designs with a suitable passive crossover or DSP crossover. In the HiFi and DIY sector, the driver is suitable for large-format floorstanding loudspeakers, standalone bass modules and individually planned loudspeaker enclosures. For new construction, replacement or repair, the mechanical dimensions, weight and bolt circle must be taken into account precisely. The extensive Thiele-Small parameters facilitate the calculation and tuning of the appropriate enclosure.
