Description

Like-new measurement sample with full warranty: The 15-inch subwoofer is designed for powerful low-frequency solutions in professional sound reinforcement systems as well as for DIY loudspeaker construction. With a nominal impedance of 8 Ω, the driver handles 1000 W AES and up to 2000 W program power. The sensitivity is 97 dB (1 W/1 m), and the usable frequency range extends from 40 to 1500 Hz. High power handling is ensured by the 88.9-mm voice coil, the neodymium magnet system and the Malt Cross® cooling system. The 3.5-inch DUO double-layer copper voice coil supports controlled conversion of the drive power. With 11 mm Xmax and a maximum excursion of 60 mm up to the damage limit, the driver is suitable for direct-radiating subwoofers, bandpass designs and other PA applications. As a starting point for a bass-reflex enclosure, an internal volume of 115 l at a tuning frequency of 40 Hz is recommended. Integration into multi-way loudspeaker systems, powerful HiFi bass modules and individually planned DIY projects is also possible. The actual filtering and crossover should be adapted to the enclosure, dispersion characteristics and the midrange section used. NOW – original Recone kits as well as our Recone service – only here! CB Vb @ Fc denotes the required volume for the specified system resonance Fc, likewise in a closed and undamped enclosure. F_upper and F_lower are calculated −3-dB cutoff frequencies of the mass-dominated sound-pressure bandpass in the small-signal free-field model. The values were derived from Re, Le, BL and Mms according to the datasheet parameters. F_lower enables a rough assessment of the tonal character as a subwoofer, bass or mid-bass driver. F_upper describes the maximum transient-clean upper cutoff frequency of a mid-bass driver with a moving mass Mms of up to approximately 100 g; possible partial vibrations may further reduce this value. Subwoofers from 12 to 31.5 inches with an Mms below 200 g should be crossed over below F_upper/3, and those with an Mms above 200 g below F_upper/4. The CB application recommendation indicates the most tonally suitable purpose in a closed enclosure. Qtc = 0.450 is recommended as the alignment, as the voice coil heats up during operation. This increases Re and thus also Qtc; under load, the system alignment shifts toward the ideal value Qtc = 0.500. All specifications are practical, proven reference values calculated from verified datasheet parameters and are not manufacturer specifications. Applications The driver is intended for the low-frequency range of direct-radiating or bandpass-based subwoofer systems. It can be used in mobile PA systems, installation systems and multi-way sound reinforcement concepts, provided that enclosure volume, tuning frequency, filtering and amplifier power are professionally matched to one another. For HiFi and DIY applications, the driver is suitable as a powerful bass module or as part of individually developed loudspeakers. The bass-reflex recommendation of 115 l at 40 Hz provides a concrete starting point for enclosure construction. The operating range up to 1500 Hz also allows flexible integration into multi-way systems. For replacement and modification projects, the cutout diameter, mounting depth and bolt circle diameter should be checked against the existing enclosure before installation.
