We have more than 25 years of experience working with NEXO components. For many years, we have been carrying out service work and reconing damaged speakers in our own master workshop. In the process, we frequently encounter chassis that do not correspond to the original configuration. Incorrect or incomplete information repeatedly leads to other chassis or recone kits being used as supposedly suitable NEXO components. However, B&C, PHL and RCF chassis do NOT correspond to NEXO parameters. Differences exist, among other things, in impedances, coatings, additional components and other design features – even if the opposite is occasionally claimed. We expressly recommend not trusting such supposed “insider tips”, which on closer inspection often turn out to be “stupid nonsense”. The chassis in question have neither comparable power handling, coatings, frequency responses nor a corresponding service life. When they are used, the possibility of fire incidents cannot be ruled out either. Therefore, our urgent advice: Don’t do it. The higher prices for original NEXO material are objectively justified. If the “damage has already been done”, we can nevertheless still help in many cases. Based on mispurchases already made, an almost original condition can be restored with original NEXO recone kits and usually also with additional components used in the original NEXO chassis.
