Its versatile layout is designed for both programming and live show operation. The control surface provides 60 physical playbacks, 16 assignable X-keys and a dedicated master section, offering a wide range of playback and operating options. A large multi-touch display area gives immediate access to programming tools and can be configured to match individual workflows. Two letterbox-format touchscreens are context-sensitive, displaying feedback and available options for the playback and encoder sections. The standard configuration provides 16,384 control parameters. With additional processing units, the system can be expanded to support up to 250,000 parameters. The console supports both grandMA2 and grandMA3 software. Its hardware has been ergonomically refined and is designed to operate quietly as standard. The control software introduces a refreshed user interface and an optimized command area for fast, intuitive operation. Dual encoders provide convenient access to additional functions, while customizable feature mapping helps streamline programming. Long-life motorized playback faders are used throughout the range. Each fader includes a color-changing light pipe. All playbacks offer direct access to button functions, intensity adjustments and timing parameters through rotary RGB-backlit encoders. The operating system was developed from the ground up with a more approachable workflow for new users while retaining familiarity for experienced grandMA programmers. User feedback was incorporated to ensure that the new tools address practical requirements in real-world operation. The core grandMA2 syntax has been retained and expanded to support the additional functionality. The software architecture has been redesigned around improved fixture, feature and effects management. These concepts are presented through an updated interface intended to make everyday tasks more straightforward. Fixture selection, value adjustment, preset storage and cue playback remain familiar, with numerous workflow improvements. Clearer overviews, quicker access to controls and more precise information help make programming and busking more efficient. Fixture data is handled generically, simplifying the transfer of programmed information between fixtures. Native support for GDTF (General Device Type Format) also allows fixture manufacturers to define how their products should be controlled.
