By combining Midas’ exacting approach with advanced Klark-Teknik technology, the XL3 offers a uniquely versatile solution for both front-of-house and monitor duties. Developed for demanding professional applications, the XL3 is equally suitable for sound reinforcement rental companies and installation engineers. Its flexible configuration allows the console to be used in a wide range of situations while providing a clear and immediately familiar working environment. The ergonomically arranged control surface features clearly labelled, colour-coded controls for fast identification. Logical zoning of the individual modules enables engineers to quickly understand the layout and operate the console with confidence. 22 outputs provide extensive routing flexibility. The 16 mixes can be configured as output mixes, subgroups or auxiliary master outputs. In addition, all inputs can be routed directly to the masters, grouped through 8 VCA masters and processed via a two-way matrix. Two ancillary record outputs are also available, resulting in a total of 22 outputs for use in a variety of environments. The Matrix: The two-way matrix is fed from the mix groups. Every variable send can be selected for pre- or post-fader operation and switched on or off. When further output mixes are needed, the standalone modular Midas XL88 matrix mixer offers additional 8-into-8 line-level mixing. The Master: The master module contains the main master and matrix output faders as well as the ancillary record outputs. A solo-to-masters switch is included as well. This practical function makes sound checks easier and improves the engineer’s workflow. The master section additionally provides a stereo record output with level control and a metering switch. Every input channel features 16 separate mix sends, each with its own switch. Inputs can also be assigned individually to the masters, allowing the console to be adapted for front-of-house, monitor and theatre applications. The VCA section supports assignment of inputs to 8 VCA masters. Each input may be routed to any number of VCA masters, ensuring a high degree of operational flexibility. All VCA masters include an on/off switch and a mute function. Two grand master VCA groups are provided. They allow any combination of the 16 master mix outputs to be assigned through two separate VCA scenes.
