ZFR 300 Overview This compact recorder has dimensions comparable to a wireless transmitter and is designed to work with standard lavalier microphones. Stereo versions can accommodate two lavalier microphones. It is suitable for recording isolated tracks from multiple performers without the usual concerns associated with wireless range or RF interference. After switching on, the recorder can receive timecode jammed through ZaxNet and begin transmitting QC audio with timecode within approximately 10 seconds. ZaxNet transmission allows the audio to be monitored at short range. It can also be used to check the recorded sound quickly and to wirelessly jam timecode to other recording bodypacks or wireless transmitters acting as a timecode master. The bodypacks may be configured to re-jam timecode at regular intervals, helping preserve sub-frame-accurate synchronization. After the production, the SD cards can be collected from the individual recorders and passed to post-production. Each ISO track can then be placed directly into a non-linear editing system as a clean, timecoded audio source. A basic setup may consist of one recorder together with a single ERX2TCD receiver for wireless monitoring of both audio and timecode. Multiple recorders can be combined to create a virtually unlimited multitrack recording system. This approach avoids many of the restrictions associated with wireless microphones. FM audio quality, operating range, and RF interference no longer have to limit the sound quality that can be achieved, making results comparable to those normally associated with studio recording.
