Audio data can be stored on CompactFlash cards with a resolution of up to 24 Bit/192 kHz in Broadcast-WAV format (BWF). Both Type II CompactFlash cards and 1.8" PCMCIA hard drives can be used as recording media. Experience from the well-known Fostex models PD-4, PD-6 and DV40 went into its development. For mobile operation, the unit features a 10-second pre-record buffer, an integrated limiter, high-quality balanced microphone inputs with 48-V phantom power, as well as battery operation. The “File-per-Take” mode automatically creates separate files and handles the sequential naming of scenes and takes. The optional timecode card expands the unit with a timecode reader/generator as well as external word clock and video reference inputs.
