The latest-generation lens enables shots with a constant aperture of F1.8 throughout the entire focal length range from 18 to 35 mm. The bright viewfinder assists both with precise focusing and image composition. Compared to a lens with F2.8, the larger aperture allows faster shutter speeds and a shallower depth of field – creating additional creative possibilities. From wide-angle to standard range, this zoom lens combines the flexibility and performance of several prime lenses. With an aperture of F1.8, it is currently considered a particularly fast standard zoom for digital SLR cameras with sensors up to APS-C format. On a 35-mm full-frame camera, the focal length range corresponds to approximately 27 to 52.5 mm and thus covers the angles of view of various prime lenses.
