The SPS200 was developed for high-quality mobile and stationary recordings. Together with the included SurroundZone plug-in, a complete Ambisonic workflow can be realised without requiring additional external processors. It uses proven multi-capsule technology from the professional high-end sector. The comparatively lightweight microphone weighs approximately 220 grams, operates with 48-V phantom power and features four low-noise condenser capsules in studio quality. Via the short breakout cable, the four signals generated at microphone level are routed to four balanced XLR outputs. This makes the microphone compatible with a wide range of recording devices. For operation, the microphone is connected via its four XLR outputs to a four-channel recorder. The gain of all channels should be set identically. The recording is then available in A-format™ and can be converted with the SurroundZone plug-in into B-format™ or other target formats such as stereo, 7.1 surround and surround-with-height. SurroundZone is available for Pro Tools HD as well as for platforms with VST multichannel support, including Nuendo, Cubase and Soundscape, for example. The software can be used on both PC and Mac systems.
