Several historical moving lights from earlier party days are still available, stored near Munich. The Starlite MK2 was one of the first television-suitable movingheads. It produces an extremely pronounced hotspot and is exceptionally bright for beams. Even by today’s standards, its light output is still impressive. Although the unit looks as if it came from East Germany, it was manufactured in Great Britain. It is equipped with analogue, repair-friendly servo motor technology. The movements respond very directly and are extremely fast – although occasionally the unit can behave somewhat idiosyncratically. This is precisely what makes it an interesting and unusual alternative to conventional units. 1 gobo wheel, 4 colour wheels, shutter, extremely fast movements, 400 W HTI. Burner and ballast are not included. The weight of the bare unit is approximately 15 kg – hard to believe, but actually true. The units are aimed primarily at collectors and DIYers who want to realise their own projects with them, for example turntables, presenters or moving video projectors. Numerous Faulhaber servo motors, many dichros and extensive mechanics are available. DMX cards are available only in small quantities; analogue control is possible. There are also several donor units for spare parts, which should preferably be sold first. The units are particularly well suited for modifications: The triple ball-bearing base has a large ring gear, similar to the construction of an excavator. The design is entirely metal and can withstand high loads. Interested DIYers can implement suitable control comparatively easily. The MK5 is the considerably more modern successor and operates with a 1200-Watt HMI-/HTI-lamp. Servo motors are still used for Pan and Tilt, while the other functions are implemented via stepper motors. The units operate fully with DMX and can be extensively configured and modified thanks to the plug-in module technology. The most common faults were loose contacts. Approximately eight MK5 units are available for DIYers, some with minor defects. Around 90% of the issues are loose contacts or missing burners. The equipment includes 2 rotating gobo wheels, CMY colour mixing, a rotating prism, a frost filter and an additional colour wheel or a third gobo wheel for fixed gobos. Weight: approximately 30 kg, power: 1200 Watt. Prices are negotiable depending on condition, scope of delivery and the desired degree of completion, and apply per unit. Shipping may be possible. Fully functional and complete MK2G units, due to their rarity, will only be handed over to good homes and are not being given away. Spare-parts donors and DIY units are also very well suited, depending on their degree of completion, for building moving constructions and will likewise be sold to the highest offer. Regarding condition, anything is possible: from a completely incomplete donor unit for modification projects, through a renovation project, to a freshly serviced, fully functional unit. However, I am very reluctant to part with the latter and will only hand them over to truly good homes. The stated price is merely an average so that a price is shown in the listing. The decisive factors are quantity and condition; the price remains negotiable. As the units come from my private ownership, I cannot issue an invoice. However, I can issue a receipt as proof of ownership or for a similar purpose. The pictures show good, functional movingheads. Initially, the donor units in particular are to be sold. The good or serviced units will only go to loving homes and at a correspondingly higher price. I prefer personal collection near Munich, but not directly in Munich. Individual units may possibly also be shipped by parcel after prior photographic documentation.
