At just under 8 cm long, the microphone significantly improves audio quality for video and audio recordings. It is compatible with smartphones that have USB-C and use at least Android 12. Thanks to MFi certification, it can also be used with iPhones, provided they are equipped with USB-C and have iOS 17 or higher installed. The integrated USB-C plug is inserted directly into the smartphone. Depending on its orientation, the microphone can point either forwards or towards the user. A suitable retaining clip is included for secure attachment. The 1/2" microphone capsule has a recording angle of 90°. This area can be clearly compared to a right angle opened towards the front between the hands. As a mono directional microphone, the device is particularly suitable for voice recordings and for sound sources located in front of the camera or within the image frame. Sounds arriving from the side or rear are largely suppressed. The high-quality preamplification and digital signal conversion at 24 Bit and 48 kHz take place inside the microphone itself. The audio signal is transmitted digitally to the smartphone, bypassing its preamplifier. There is also a 3.5-mm headphone output on the rear. If the app being used supports monitoring, the recording can be checked directly; otherwise, it at least eliminates the need to repeatedly switch between the microphone and headphones. The durable aluminium housing protects against interference. A scratch-resistant ceramic coating helps keep the surface attractive even with prolonged use. The Deluxe WS9 windscreen is included for outdoor recordings. It can be fitted quickly, has a strong foam layer inside and reduces typical wind noise up to wind force 5 thanks to its synthetic fur.
